A mi jefe con cariño. (Parte I) / To my boss with love. (Part I)

me exige brillo mientras apaga mis luces.

She is the blade that doesn’t cut, but bleeds,
routine turned into poison every morning.

Her voice doesn’t command: it buries.

Her presence doesn’t watch over: it stabs from within, unhurriedly.

Each dawn is a verdict:
another day under her long shadow,
another gulp of this air that smells of defeat,
another proof that enthusiasm rotted on her desk.

She demands goals while clipping my wings,
she demands brilliance while extinguishing my lights.

Her «good morning» is a death certificate for my spirit.

Her smile, a reminder that she enjoys seeing me broken.

I’ve come to hate the ceiling of this office
because it’s the same sky she stains with lead.

I’ve come to mistake the ticking of the clock
for the countdowns no one asked for.

And in the darkest moments,
when the weariness is no longer of the body but of the soul,
I have thought that perhaps eternal rest
hurts less than another of your reports with corrections in red.

El idealista que alguna vez fui. / The idealist I once was.

El idealista que alguna vez fui. / The idealist I once was.

There was a time when I believed life was summed up in a stable job, eternal love, a warm home, and a car that would take us on family adventures. I dreamed of that Hollywood movie that promised happy endings effortlessly.

But reality has its own scripts, and mine turned out to be written in invisible ink. Fifteen years later, I’m still jumping from job to job, as if the ground beneath my feet would never solidify. My marriage, once a refuge, has become a mirage: the woman with whom I shared promises is now someone I barely recognize.

And then there’s my son, a tiny being of light and shadow, diagnosed with type 2 autism. Sometimes I feel like I’m living with a miniature alien: I love him madly, but I can’t always understand him. The economy took over our home, and today we’re nomads dependent on our parents, while the family car has become a taxi with no fixed destination.

My family is a puzzle of broken pieces: a half-brother lost in a game with a toxic girlfriend, parents who looked the other way when the bomb exploded, dysfunctional in-laws—one a fugitive from the law, the other trapped in her own limited world.

I am the man who carries the pieces. Sometimes alone, sometimes together, but always burdened by the weight of what could have been but never was.

I realized too late that I was an idealist: I hoped that a supernatural being, a miracle, would suddenly open a portal and take me to that perfect world I dreamed of. But miracles are rare, and religion—as Nietzsche said—is sometimes nothing more than the opium that lulls people to sleep.

Today I know that the only magic that exists is determination, discipline, and perseverance… but always anchored in reality. Knowing the world you live in, accepting its rules, and flowing with it—not against it. Playing the hero only brings pain.

If anyone reads this, let them know: don’t expect magic portals. Build with what you have, love with who you are, and move forward without empty hopes. Life isn’t a movie… but it can still have glimpses of beauty amidst the chaos.

La resignación, mi amante. / Resignation, my lover.

La resignación, mi amante. / Resignation, my lover.
Se vistió de gris mi suerte
con anillo de quietud,
y en la sombra de esta muerte
le juré eterna salud.

No hubo flores en la entrega,
ni canciones que cantar,
solo un sí que el tiempo niega
y un amor que es anhelar.

¡Oh, resignación, esposa
eterna compañera de mi vida!
Vida ya tan poca cosa...
Aceptar la verdad, sin mentiras.

¿Quién rompe este matrimonio
cuando el alma dice "amén"?
Solo el tiempo, que es testigo,
llora y vuelve a hacerlo bien.

My fate was dressed in gray
with a ring of stillness,
and in the shadow of this death
I swore eternal health to her.

There were no flowers in the surrender,
nor songs to sing,
only a yes that time denies
and a love that is yearning.

Oh, resignation, wife
eternal companion of my life!
Life is so little now...
Accept the truth, without lies.

Who breaks this marriage
when the soul says "amen"?
Only time, which is a witness,
weeps and does it right again.

Nuestra Rutina / Our Routine

Nuestra Rutina / Our Routine
Viví una época en que las palabras
eran puentes de luz entre los dos,
cada sílaba un latido,
cada frase un abrazo sin final.

Pero la rutina, celosa de nosotros,
tejió un manto para secuestrarnos.
Las conversaciones se hicieron breves,
como hojas arrancadas sin piedad.

Ya no preguntas cómo amanezco,
ni yo te cuento cómo me fue.
El teléfono grita en silencio,
y el vacío de nuestra cama, crece.

A veces, miro tus ojos buscando,

I lived in a time when words
were bridges of light between us,
each syllable a heartbeat,
each phrase a hug without end.

But routine, jealous of us,
wove a cloak to kidnap us.
Conversations became brief,
like leaves torn without mercy.

You no longer ask how I wake up,
nor do I tell you how it went.
The phone screams in silence,
and the emptiness of our bed grows.

Sometimes, I look into your eyes searching,
for that interest that once united us,
but I only find tired reflections,
frozen gazes that fade away.

Where are the shared laughter,
the secrets that made us accomplices?
Now we only inhabit the same space,
but on planets that no longer touch.

Maybe love doesn't die suddenly,
but it fades away in silence,
Maybe the wound doesn't kill,
but it only makes you sick,
as it corrodes.
