Quiero morir a los 40. / I Want to Die at 40.

Quiero morir a los 40. / I Want to Die at 40.
Tengo cuarenta inviernos en la espalda
y apenas sé quién soy sin tu mirada.
Te di mis primaveras, una a una,
y tú me devolviste el alma helada.
Te entregué lo que nadie me pidió,
te di mi fe, mi miedo y mi costumbre,

I carry forty winters on my back
and barely know who I am without your gaze.
I gave you all my springs, one by one,
and you handed back a soul wrapped up in haze.
I handed over what no one had asked,
my faith, my fear, my every worn-out way,
and when I finally woke, the only thing left
was your absence casting shadows on my day.
I lost so many windows, so many trains,
so many "I love you"s I never said in time,
that now I look behind and only find
the ashes of a love that once was mine.
Forty. An even number, softly made
of a four and a ten I never celebrated.
Four decades being everyone's shelter,
and not one shelter where I was awaited.
I owe this world nothing anymore.
I gave my bones, my time, my only song.
I was balm, handkerchief, harbor, shield,
and no one was my harbor, right or wrong.
The sun no longer moves me, nor consoles me
knowing there's another day to come.
I only want this labyrinth to end,
this feeling without feeling, this being numb.
I want to die at forty, want to close
my eyes upon a number whole and true,
because to live without belonging to anyone,
is to die every day, slow and askew.
It's not rage, not revenge, not defeat:
it's that I owe myself to no one now.
I gave everything I had, and in the end,
I only ask for silence, and that's how.

Ciegos

Ciegos

What I think of you.

Lo que pienso de ti. / What I think of you.

I waited.
I don't know if it was days or moons,
if the clock grew tired of ticking
or my patience was running out.

I waited.
With each of her silences, I wove excuses:
"She's busy," "Life is hard."
Meanwhile, my wounds opened cracks.

Today I look back
and see the naked truth:
it wasn't indifference, nor forgetfulness,
just pure selfishness.

She loved her reflection,
her comfort, her cloudless sky,
her own well-being,
and I... I was only the object
that painted light into her darkness
when she wanted to feel safe and secure,
I was only her insurance,
against scams and robberies.

me preguntó, si yo era feliz,
si nunca nadie, me había roto.

No supe que responderle,
pues mi mente dice una cosa,
pero mi corazón no lo siente.

La razón me dice que sí,
los sentimientos gritan que no.

Aprendimos mucho, maduramos.

Ahora, solo queda abrazarnos,
lanzar un suspiro hondo al aire,
y seguir sobreviviendo hasta que Dios,
se apiade de nosotros y decida llamarnos.

Adiós.

My child escaped on this day, and I couldn't stop him,
he wanted to dream again, to believe what years ago,
I promised him so many times.

How sad he must have felt, seeing the kind of adult,
I am now.
While he cried and became infatuated,
I filled the vessel of now with rage.

What happened?, he asked himself for a moment.
There is no justice in the world, we were scammed!

Nothing was, as we believed before.

Life was not kind,
the world changed very quickly,
I justified myself before him,
so as not to see him disappointed.

But he looked at me, with sobbing eyes,
he asked me, if I was happy.

I didn't know what to answer,
because my mind says one thing,
but my heart doesn't feel it.

Reason tells me yes,
feelings scream at me no.

We learned a lot, we matured.
We learned to keep quiet, so as not to fight.
Not to dream, so as not to end up disappointed.

We discovered in recent times,
that our dreams were not dreams,
and that the years, increasingly faster,
fled away.

I'm sorry, my chubby little one,
we do what we can,
with the little we have,
but that word you mentioned,
was erased instantly, when I saw you.

My priorities are other,
and you spent the little joy we saved, in our youth.

Now, all that remains is to embrace each other,
to release, a deep sigh, into the air,
and continue surviving until God,
takes pity on us, and decides to call us.

Bye.

In my glass, golden water shines,
the sun of the night, the vitamin of the soul.
Sincere words that are born in flight,
unleash laughter, lighten grief.
On the table, two glasses bring hearts closer,
with each sip, they quench tensions.
Seductive foam, faithful companion,
you whisper advice, made of honey.

I toast to you, on this warm night,
because I see my worries vanish.
The burning that passes through my throat,
tears the sad secrets of my soul.

My mind is out of balance, losing its charm,
because I have drunk too much, to forget my pain.
Rather, the shared toast brings me company.
Cheers! those who at my side, support my empathy.

So let us celebrate, with sincere joy,
the fleeting moment, forgetting our history.
Where the spirit is ready, but the fermentation of these grapes,
like a shameless thief, robs my stress,
bringing peace, calming my head.
