Hoy me pregunto:
Y me permito sentir.
Y llorar.
These hands…
These hands that learned to clench fists before they learned to caress.
That know how to give a firm hand, to bang on the table, to shake hands with complicity…
But they tremble when they try to cry for help.
They taught us that tears were a forbidden river.
That men are rocks, walls that never fall.
But no one told us that rocks also erode from within.
That the hardest granite can break in silence, without witnesses.
We are gladiators in an invisible arena.
Where every day is a battle for a job, for respect, for not disappointing.
Where failure is not an option, it’s a scar we carry in our souls.
We compete for crumbs of recognition at a banquet of other people’s expectations.
And we cry.
Oh God, how we cry!
But our tears are an underground fire that burns without flames.
They are acidic tears that fall inward, silencing throats, devastating inner landscapes.
While outside… the smile is intact, the back is straight, the voice is serene.
They can fall and be picked up.
They can cry and find arms to hold them.
They can say «I can’t take it anymore» and the world bends down to console them.
We… we break into a thousand pieces and keep walking as if nothing happened.
Because a broken man is a pathetic spectacle, while a broken woman is a tragedy worthy of compassion.
Do you know how heavy this armor of strength weighs?
This breastplate we’re forced to wear since we were children?
«Boys don’t cry,» «be a man,» «hold on like a man»…
And we hold on. And we hold on. Until one day the soul says «enough.»
And then comes the emptiness, that silent abyss that speaks to us in poisonous whispers.
Because our depression doesn’t have the romantic face of feminine pain.
It’s a gray beast that lives in messy apartments, in cars parked late at night, in empty whiskey glasses.
It’s the lump in the throat during the shower, the forced smile at family gatherings, the «I’m fine» that suffocates us.
Today I wonder:
What would happen if one day we decided to drop the mask?
If we showed our cracks, our wounds, our tiredness…
Would they embrace us or point accusing fingers at us?
Would they call us brave or dismiss us as weak?
Perhaps true strength isn’t in enduring infinitely,
but in daring to say:
«I’m tired of being strong. Today I need to be human.
Today I need to cry with the sound on.
Today I need to be told that I’m not alone in this battle.»
Because men bleed inside too.
We also drown in starless nights.
We also have the right to collapse, to be fragile, to ask for help without shame.
And this… this is my stifled cry.
My naked truth.
My personal war against the ghosts who tell me that silence is synonymous with strength.
Today I take off my armor.
And I allow myself to feel.
And cry.
And exist, simply exist, beyond all expectations.
