Esperé.
No sé si fueron días o lunas,
si el reloj se cansó de dar vueltas
o mi paciencia se fue congelando.

En cada silencio suyo, tejí excusas:
"Está ocupada", "La vida es dura"...
Mientras, mis heridas abrían grietas.

Hoy miro atrás
y veo la verdad desnuda:
no era indiferencia, ni olvido,
solo puro egoísmo.

Ella amaba su reflejo,
su comodidad, su cielo sin nubes,
su propio bienestar,
y yo... solo fui el objeto
que pintó de luz su oscuridad
cuando quiso sentirse segura y a salvo,
solo fui su seguro,
contra estafas y atracos.

and see the naked truth:

just pure selfishness.

She loved her reflection,
her comfort, her cloudless sky,
her own well-being,
and I... I was only the object
that painted light into her darkness
when she wanted to feel safe and secure,
I was only her insurance,
against scams and robberies.
